Babylon Zoo - Check the Updates page for info of the BZ comeback!

In 1996 Babylon Zoo shot to fame with the release of the long awaited single 'Spaceman' which sold over 1 Million in the UK within it's first week. The song stayed at number one (knocking George Michael of the top spot) for 6 weeks. Thanks to the use of the song in a Levis advert, Spaceman became the fastest selling single in UK chart history!

The 'Zoo' toured europe where the single had reached number one in 27 countries and upon the realese of much anticipated first Album 'The Boy wih X-Ray eyes' they shot up the charts once more, hitting the charts hard and fast! The Album was named after Jas Mann's nick name as a boy due to his dazzling blue eyes. (Check the 'Jas Mann Info' page for a quick bio!)

They Enjoyed much success and huge TV coverage over the next few years yet had their songs played on Radio One very rarely... (I wonder why...)

In 1999 Babylon Zoo realesed a new single with a new Glam Rockish sound. 'All The Money's Gone' enjoyed success in Europe and (stangly enough) Canada yet never took the US by storm. King Kong Groover made it into the charts but after the relative failure compared to Spaceman, Jas decided to quit it... until now! It seems he's been hiding away and working on some new projects and working with some new people. Please check the updates page for more.

What's going on in 'The Zoo'?
It's a fairly new site so i'll be updating and making a cool gallery for you Jas fans out there! Thanks to the wonderful people at Freehomepage.com it sould be quick to put up. Keep your eyes open though for some BZ related changes. In 2001 Jas released 'Love Lies Bleeding', a new single. He was rumoured to be releasing a new album 'Within Site Of The Cosmic Citadel' , but now we have news that his new band 'Mariachi Static' will be releasing an album. towards the end of the year 2004 or beginning 2005 (having waited so long a few more monthes don't bother me - i'm just looking forward to hearing this long anticipated new sound).
Jas performing live!
Jas Mann live in concert in 1996. In 1998, as publicity for the release of his second album, Jas raffled off his guitar.

Jas gained some of the effects for his songs by plugging a cheap, second-hand guitar and amp straight into the mixing desk, thus creating the sound that defines his music.

His unique whirry sounds can be heard to full effect on tracks such as 'Zodiac Sign', 'Animal Army' and (I found) 'I'm Cracking Up I Need a Pill'. Or on Album number 2, King Kong Groover, try 'Honaloochie Boogie' and 'Stereo Super Star'.

Where is Jas now?!!!!
I'm as worried as you are gentle reader! But fear not! Jas Mann has recently opened a new website to promote his new band Mariachi Static. www.hubrecords.com has information on both Jas's new project and also some other bands that Jas is working with at the moment. Phew!

Jas has encoraged rumour that he is the second coming of Christ...
OK, maybe not. But it got your attention!
